Cliff YANG

Cliff Yang heads the patent prosecution practice as a Partner in Zhong Lun Law Firm. His practice includes patent prosecution, invalidation, litigation and transaction. Before joining Zhong Lun, he worked in leading Chinese firms as a senior patent attorney and a U.S. firm as representative counsel for years. He represents a bunch of MNCs and Start-ups in patent prosecution in China, USPTO, Korea, Europe and Japan patent offices. He also acted as a counsel in many IP disputes, FTO analysis and transactions for his clients. He was recognized as a rising star in patent matters in China by many of his clients. He is familiar with the technical areas of medical devices, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, foods, cosmetics, mechanicals and automobiles.

Representative Matters

1. Represented MNCs such as Abbott, Liebherr, HETTICH, Samsung Electronics, Korea Telecom, Mahle International, ResMed, Pony AI in their patent prosecutions in China; 2. Represented China Unionpay, Nanjing Genscript Biotech Corporation, China Tobacco Hubei Limited, Canaan Intelligence, Moore Threads, and Sinopec in their patent prosecutions in China and abroad; 3. Represented a chemical company in its series of patent invalidation proceedings in China against US Milliken; 4. Represented Xiamen Super Bock in its design patent invalidation proceeding against a Xiamen wine company; 5. Represented Ceragem Inc. in its patent invalidation proceeding against a Ningbo company; 6. Acted as a counsel to CDBI Partners in IP due diligence for investing into a Wuhan company; 7. Acted as a counsel Beijing Advaccine Biotechnology in patent due diligence for listing on Hong Kong Stock Exchange; 8. Acted as a counsel to Tianqi Lithium in patent due diligence in its M&A project; 9. Acted as a counsel to Nanjing Bestzyme Bioengineering Co., Ltd. in patent FTO analysis for its product; 10. Acted as a counsel to Hubei WanRun New Energy Co., Ltd. in patent FTO analysis in its investment project; 11. Acted as a counsel to Cummins China Investment Co., Ltd. in patent FTO analysis in its engine technology; 12. Acted as a counsel to Shenzhen Smoore Technology Limited in patent validity analysis involving multiple e-cigarette patents.
