Tat Pan is qualified as a lawyer in Hong Kong (non-practicing), England & Wales. His practice covers general banking & finance, ship finance and other non-contentious shipping transactions, as well as the financing and transactional work of other asset types.
Mr. Pan has extensive experience in various cross-border banking & finance transactions, including syndicated loans, bilateral loans, acquisition financing and project financing.In terms of shipping, Mr. Pan is adept at handling a wide range of ship finance and other shipping transactions, including shp finance loans, sale and lease-backs, finance lease, operating lease, shipbuilding contracts, second-hand ship sale and purchases, shipping joint ventures and mergers, ship registration, etc. Beyond shipping, Mr. Pan also handles the financing of, and other transactions relating to, various other assets, such as marine containers, photolithography machines and other large equipment.
Mr. Pan strives to stay ahead of the times – without losing focus of his core practice, he also keeps up-to-date with the latest market and legal developments, notably in new energy, decarbonization, green and sustainable finance.

Acting for a PRC lender in the extension of Euro 500,000,000 term loan facility to a German
borrower to finance the acquisition of the shares of a German listed semi-conductor company
Acting for the controlling shareholder of a Hong Kong-listed company in a privatization by way of general offer which is financed by three secured syndicated term loans in the aggregate principal amount of HKD 27 billion and a HKD 3.78 billion secured bilateral term loan granted by a Chinese investment bank
Acting for a Chinese investment company in its borrowing of a HKD 2.3 billion loan from a Chinese bank to finance its acquisition of a Singapore-listed company
Acting for a PE fund in respect of a USD 20 million subscription credit facility from an American bank
Acting for a major Chinese financial leasing company in respect of a USD 262 million acquisition of 4 second-hand and 6 newbuilding bulk carriers from an Asian shipowner and the bareboat chartering of the same to an Asian ship operator under operating lease
Acting for a Chinese financial leasing company in respect of the sale and lease-back of 21 bulk carriers and tankers with a Greek shipowner.
Acting for three state-owned shipping and energy companies in the setting up of a joint office, joint venture and vessel holding companies, the selection of shipyard and the purchase of 3 x 174,000 cubic metre LNG vessels for a total of USD 550 million from a Chinese shipyard. The project also involved the negotiation of construction supervision agreements, ship management agreements and time charterparties
Acting for a state-owned shipping company in the USD 70 million post-delivery financing by a global bank of two 114,000 dwt oil tankers
Acting for a U.S. Shipyard in respect of its purchase of two 300-ton capacity portal cranes from a Chinese equipment manufacturer
