Peter NI

Mr. Peter Ni is a senior partner of Zhong Lun Law Firm. Before joining Zhong Lun, he led White & Case's Greater China tax practice and International Tax Practice of Ernst & Young China.

Peter has close to 30 years of experience in providing international tax and legal services to companies and individuals that have cross-border needs, including 9 years in the US. Trained as a lawyer, he is able to provide tax advisory, planning and dispute resolution services in the proper legal context. In addition to tax, Peter provides wealth planning services by using such tools as trust, family office, will, marital agreement, and family constitution.

  • Provided PRC tax services to a number of international funds, including Carlyle, CLSA, Warburg Pincus, BlackRock, CDH Fund, PAG, CICC, etc., on direct and/or indirect transfer of PRC assets

  • Provided tax services to many HNWI clients

  • Provided inbound tax services to many MNC clients

  • Provided outbound tax services to many Chinese companies 


Tax Dispute Resolution

  • Represented many clients in tax administrative appeal and tax litigation cases

  • Assisted many clients in dealing with tax audit and self-audit 

  • Acted as expert witness in a number of international arbitration or litigation cases


Wealth Planning

  • Provided family trust and family office services to many HNWI clients

  • Provided wealth protection and succession planning servicies to many Chinese clients

  • Provided cross-border estate succession services to many foreign HNWI clients
