Nafisa Nihmat, partner at Zhong Lun, made to the “2025 ALB China Top 15 Insolvency & Restructuring Lawyers” list announced by Asia Legal Business (ALB) on March 24, 2025.
Nafisa Nihmat has been focusing her practice on insolvency and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and disposal of distressed asset, out-of-court debt restructuring and pre-restructuring, and corporate and institutional debt crisis management. She has led several big-ticket and complex insolvency and restructuring cases as well as distressed asset M&A and restructuring cases, yielding significant impact both within China and internationally. Nafisa’s outstanding legal services have earned her the recognition and trust of clients and the media. She boasts a six-year streak of recognition on the Chambers and Partners insolvency and restructuring recommended lawyers list along with five-time recommendations on the China Business Law Journal The A-List Growth Drivers roster. In addition, she was selected for the Forbes China’s 100 Outstanding Young Overseas Returnees in 2023 and named one of the “25 Influential People”. Nafisa holds a master’s degree in law from East China University of Political Science and Law and another from Emory University in the United States. Tapping into her solid academic credentials and extensive influence, she serves as arbitrator for the Shanghai Arbitration Commission and the Hangzhou Arbitration Commission, member of the legislative expert pool of the Pudong New Area Justice Bureau, and member of the International Association of Insolvency. In 2020, she was included in the “National Civil and Administrative Case Consultation Expert Database” by the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China.
