On December 19, 2020, the groundbreaking ceremony of Shenzhen Qianhai Taikang International Hospital (Planned) and the signing ceremony of international cooperation with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center was held at the site of Qianwan Hospital project. This is the flagship project of Taikang Insurance Group's high-quality medical and healthcare layout in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.

Located in Qianwan Area of Qianhai Cooperation Zone, Shenzhen Qianhai Taikang International Hospital (Planned) is an integrated medical center of international level of medical treatment, education, and research, jointly invested and built by Taikang Insurance Group and Qianhai Development and Investment Holding Co. The hospital covers an area of 37,600 square meters, with a total investment of more than 3 billion yuan and 1,160 planned beds.

On the same day, Shenzhen Qianhai Taikang International Hospital (Planned) and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from the United States executed a set of cooperation agreements.  The parties will have in-depth close cooperation in the academic development, international-level education for medical professionals, quality control of medical treatment, and hospital management system. In addition, the new hospital will become an affiliated hospital of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center upon the commencement of its operation. It will be the first hospital affiliated with the world's top hospitals in Shenzhen, further enhancing the internationalization of the medical service of the region and vitalizing the process of the reform of medical industry and the promotion of high-quality healthcare in Shenzhen and even the whole country.

Zhong Lun Los Angeles Office fully participated in the project as the U.S. legal counsel to Taikang Healthcare, providing legal advice on the transaction structure and co-branding approaches, negotiating and revising the full set of transaction documents. Zhong Lun Beijing Office acted as the Chinese legal counsel to Taikang Healthcare, conducted due diligence and provided legal advice on the Chinese registration of relevant trademarks.  Zhong Lun team for this project is led by partner Ling Xiao and Senior Counsel Weidong Wang; other key team-member include attorneys Feng Tian, Jingjin Wu, and Yutong Wu.

Taikang Healthcare is a subsidiary of Taikang Insurance Group designated in investment and operation in healthcare industry. As of now, Taikang has laid out five major medical centers across the country, including Taikang Xianlin Gulou Hospital, Taikang Tongji (Wuhan) Hospital, Taikang Southwest Medical Center (Planned), and Taikang Ningbo Hospital (Planned), in addition to Shenzhen Qianhai Taikang International Hospital (Planned), with an overall bed capacity of more than 5,000 beds. Taikang Xianlin Gulou Hospital and Taikang Tongji (Wuhan) Hospital have been in operation, and the other projects have been under construction.

It is internationally renowned for its high-level medical services and has been ranked as one of the top ten hospitals in the United States by U.S. News and World Report for consecutive years.  Cedars-Sinai is ranked No.7 on U.S. News and World Report's latest list of the Best Hospitals in the US, released in July 2020, and No.2 in both the greater Los Angeles area and California, with 12 departments on the national list.
