Mr. Yi has advised on a number of lawsuits, including various commercial disputes between well-known multinational corporations and Chinese companies. On the noncontentious front, he is experienced in bankruptcy and liquidation and boasts an impressive track record in compliance matters for multiple multinational companies. He was seconded to work in the legal and compliance team of Microsoft China and IBM China for more than one year, respectively, which has contributed to his capabilities in corporate matters. Mr. Yi also demonstrates professional strengths in handling for clients many government investigation and administrative penalty cases related to commercial bribery, security trading, bidding, and safety of food and drug. He worked as a visiting lawyer in Washington DC office of Hughes Hubbard and Reed LLP for three months in 2015.

Representative Matters

  • Represented a Chinese Fortune 500 company in compliance issues relating to its business in Africa and finally had the ban imposed by a multilateral development bank lifted early, which represents the first such case in China 

  • Worked as key member in the litigation team for GSK China on its commercial bribery investigation in China

  • Represented BMW China, BMW Group, and BMW Auto Finance in a series of litigation cases relating to product liability, intellectual property, auto loan, and contractual disputes

  • Represented an American listed company in a series of litigation cases related to corporate control rights over its five subsidiaries in China

  • Represented a South Korean Fortune 500 company in the disputes over the joint venture with its Chinese partner

  • Represented a Chinese company in the dispute over the joint venture with a British Fortune 500 company before Hong Kong International Arbitration Center

  • Represented a famous securities investment company to handle an administrative investigation and punishment by Chinese Securities Regulatory Commission

  • Helped a medical device company to handle a civil product liability case and relevant administrative investigation and punishment imposed by Chinese food and drug administrations
