Li YANG
Since 2007, Dr. Li Yang has focused exclusively on distressed-company rescue, exit, and acquisition matters. He has accumulated extensive practical experience in areas such as publicly-listed company reorganizations, group company consolidated bankruptcies, reorganization investments, and bankruptcy-asset acquisitions. His credentials are also extensive in obtaining recognition and assistance from Chinese mainland courts for foreign insolvency proceedings.
As administrator-in-charge, Dr. Yang has handled cases that have repeatedly been cited in the annual work reports of the Supreme People's Court and of provincial high people's courts and/or promoted as guiding cases. As project counsel, he has repeatedly assisted state-owned, private, and foreign investors in completing acquisitions of reorganized enterprises, DIP financings, and purchases of bankruptcy assets. He has conducted in-depth research on cross-border insolvency, completing a doctoral dissertation on the subject, and has represented domestic and foreign stakeholders in a series of cross-border insolvency cases, positioning him at the forefront of securing recognition and assistance from mainland courts for foreign proceedings.
In addition, Dr. Yang has led risk-disposal work for several securities and trust companies, and has represented creditors and insolvency administrators in a large number of bankruptcy-related litigation matters as well as complex disputes involving civil, insolvency, and criminal law intersections.
These achievements and his sustained dedication have led to Dr. Yang's consistent rankings among the top practitioners by Chambers & Partners, ALB, IFLR1000, and China Business Law Journal. Further, he was named one of ALB's inaugural "Top 15 Insolvency & Restructuring Lawyers," an ALB "Rising Star Lawyer 2022," a CBLJ "Rising Star 2023-24 & 2024-25," and received the Beijing Association of Bankruptcy Administrators' first "Outstanding Reorganization Practitioner Award."
