Zhong Lun partner Jun Cheng was listed in the 2022 edition of "ALB Dealmakers of Asia" by Asian Legal Business (ALB) on December 21, 2022.
Mr. Jun Cheng, upon graduation from the University de Paris I (Sorbonne) with a master’s degree and a PhD, both in business law, obtained the qualification to practice as a lawyer in China and France. His practice focuses on overseas investment and mergers and acquisitions by Chinese enterprises in mining, energy and large-scale infrastructure projects. Mr. Jun Cheng has spearheaded hundreds of mega-sized overseas investment projects by Chinese enterprises. His team members are capable of working in French, English, Spanish and Russian and have established long-term sound cooperation with many Chinese central enterprises, large state-owned enterprises, large banks, investment funds and Sinosure. Mr. Jun Cheng’s practice covers more than 100 countries and regions around the world.
In recent years, Mr. Cheng has taken the lead in providing legal services for dozens of Chinese enterprises' overseas acquisitions of mining projects “copper, cobalt, nickel, lithium" in the drive of energy transformation. With his rich experience in legal practices, Mr. Cheng has skillfully handled complex large-scale transactions, many of which have won him the Deal of Year awards. Mr. Cheng has been ranked by Chambers Global Guide, Chambers Asia-Pacific Guide and Chambers Greater China Region Guide as Band 1 lawyer in the field of energy and natural resources for many years in succession and recognized as a Highly Regarded Lawyer in energy and infrastructure, M&A, banking and project finance by IFLR1000. He has also made to the “Belt and Road" Cross-border Lawyers Pool of the National Lawyers Association and the National Foreign-related Lawyers Pool of the Ministry of Justice.
