On February 12, 2026, Asian Legal Business (ALB) announced its 2026 ALB China Top 15 Overseas Investment Lawyers list. Bo Cheng, partner at Zhong Lun Law Firm, was recognized among the honorees.
Mr. Cheng has long focused his practice on cross-border investment and M&A, advising numerous prominent domestic and international funds, A-share listed companies, and state-owned enterprises on complex acquisitions, divestitures, and asset sale transactions, as well as providing regulatory and compliance advice in connection with Chinese companies’ outbound expansion. Having previously practiced at a leading U.S. law firm and participated in a number of sophisticated cross-border transactions, Mr. Cheng combines an international perspective with extensive cross-border transactional experience, and is well regarded for delivering practical and effective solutions tailored to the strategic needs of Chinese companies “going global.”
His representative matters include leading the project in which Yitai successfully secured control of Xinchao Energy’s core U.S. oil and gas assets valued at over CNY 10 billion; representing investors in the acquisition of the RF Power business and Standard Products business divested by Dutch semiconductor company NXP; representing China Merchants Shekou and Viking Cruises in establishing the first Sino-foreign joint venture luxury cruise company; and advising multiple new energy companies on compliance solutions in response to the FEOC provisions under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and the Inflation Reduction Act. In addition, Mr. Cheng has handled a substantial number of take-private transactions involving U.S.-listed Chinese companies and has been repeatedly ranked in Corporate/M&A by the Chambers Global Guide.
