Dr. Gong and Mr. Cheong Address Trends on RMB Fund Formation and Issuing RMB Bonds in Hong Kong
Zhong Lun partner Dr. Lefan Gong and Simon Cheong were keynote speakers at the In-House Congress event in Hong Kong on October 5. The theme of the talk is raising RMB capital, and each of Messrs. Gong and Cheong discussed two separate topics, the trends and options of setting up RMB funds in China, and the trends of offering RMB denominated bonds in Hong Kong.
The theme for the In-House Congress was to provide the audience with updates and state-of-art information of law practice in China and the region with various speakers addressing variety of topics and the implications for businesses.
Dr. Gong, a partner in Zhong Lun’s Shanghai office, spoke on "Setting up RMB Funds – Obstacles, Models and Trends." His presentation focused on how foreign sponsors may set up private equity and real estate funds in China, the legal and regulatory framework and available structure options and red flags for risk management in fund formation in China.
Mr. Simon Cheong, spoke on RMB capital raising through the issuance of RMB Panda Bonds in China, as well as RMB-denominated “Tiger" Bonds in Hong Kong.
The conference was held at the JW Marriot in Hong Kong.
