Zhong Lun Advises MOFCOM on First Anti-Subsidy Investigation by South Africa
Zhong Lun Law Firm has recently helped the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) win an anti-subsidy investigation launched by South Africa over stainless sinks originating from China.
In July 2008, International Trade Administration Commission Of South Africa launched an anti-subsidy investigation, the first of its kind for a developing country, against stainless sinks originating from China.
The case is of much importance to China. If South Africa wins, other developing countries will possibly follow suit and launch anti-subsidy investigations against Chinese exports.
Zhong Lun was engaged by MOFCOM to respond to the investigation. The law firm, in cooperation with South African law firms, made several rounds of defenses and finally, South Africa terminated the investigation. The Zhong Lun team was led by partner Pu Lingchen.
