Zhong Lun Advises on Global Offering and HK IPO of L’Occitane International S.A.
On May 7, 2010, L’Occitane International S.A., the first French company to hold an initial public offering in Hong Kong, raised HK$2.642 billion. Its Hong Kong IPO was priced at HK$15.08 per share.
Zhong Lun Law Firm acted as PRC counsel for the company and provided comprehensive legal services for the global offering. The law firm’s managing partner Zhang Xuebing and partner Michael Zhengping Gu led a professional service team, which also included associates Chen Lei and Wang Bing, to provide legal assistance.
L’Occitane is an international company manufacturing natural and organic skin care and cosmetics products with main ingredients from the Provence area. Its L’Occitane-branded products are sold in more than 80 countries through more than 1,500 retail outlets across the globe.
The company intends to use the proceeds of the IPO to accelerate its international expansion in high-growth emerging markets such as China, Brazil and Russia as well as more mature ones such as Japan and the US.
UBS AG acted as the sole global coordinator for the global offering. UBS AG, CLSA and HSBC acted as the joint sponsors.
