Zhong Lun Law Firm Won an AAA Arbitration Case with Payment of Roughly USD2.5 Million to Client
A team from Zhong Lun Law Firm represented the client in arbitration process taken before the International Center for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) of American Arbitration Association (AAA) with payment of roughly USD2.5 million to the client.
The client is a holding company registered in Hong Kong SAR. The counterparty is a Fortune 500 company headquartered in the USA. After the negotiation with the counterparty failed, the team carefully prepared the case file before applying for arbitration. The case went through the process of negotiation, arbitration, mediation and then negotiation again. The team eventually reached a settlement agreement through repetitive and arduous negotiation ending up with payment of roughly USD 2.5 million to the client. The counterparty has wired the payment and the case has been dismissed.
Without assistance from American lawyers, Zhong Lun lawyers’ good understanding of international arbitration rules, rich hands-on experience, outstanding skills of communication, uncompromising commitment to excellence and conscientiousness and high sense of responsibilities played a vital role in the successful conclusion of the case. This is also an excellent example for utilizing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) manners in the arbitration and mediation process.
The team was led by Mr. Wilson Wei Huo who is a partner of Zhong Lun Law Firm’s Beijing Office and members include Ms. Haiwen Sheng and Ms. Xiuli Duan. In the past year, the team has represented cases arbitrated by Geneva Chamber of Commerce of Industry, Dubai International Arbitration Center, etc and its work has been highly valued by the clients, arbitration institutions and even counterparties.
