Partner Zhou Yacheng Speaks at China Low-carbon Competitiveness Development Forum
On June 21, 2012, Zhou Yacheng, a partner of Zhong Lun Law Firm Beijing office, delivered a speech on “Legal Issues and Risk Control of Carbon Emission Reductions Trade" during the session on “Low-carbon technologies and services - Technology practice and innovation, leading the low-carbon development" at China Low-carbon Competitiveness Development Forum sponsored by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in Beijing.
In the speech, Mr. Zhou briefly analyzed and elaborated on the issues currently most concerned by carbon trade project participants. Furthermore, as the first commitment period of CDM (2008-2012), one of the most important mechanisms of carbon reduction, is closing, the future of this mechanism is still up in the air. Based on years of theoretical research, practical experience and his knowledge of both domestic and international carbon emission reduction trading markets, Mr. Zhou expressed an optimistic view on the prospect of carbon emission reduction trading. Meanwhile, Mr. Zhou introduced progresses on multiple CDM projects he advised on which have successfully generated tens of millions of dollars in revenue, greatly boosting confidence of Chinese enterprises in carbon emission reduction trading.
Officials from relevant departments, such as State Administration of Taxation, Development Research Center of the State Council, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Environmental Protection, State Administration for Industry and Commence, and foreign guests from International Trade Center of United Nations and Canada China Business Council also delivered speeches at the forum.
