Grace LI

Grace has over 10 years of experience in intellectual property law, advising clients across industries including FMCG, TMT, and high technology.

Her commercial IP practice covers a broad range of transactions such as brand licensing, franchising, and technology development and/or licensing, with particularly extensive experience in the IP aspects of M&A and PE/VC transactions. Grace combines a strong understanding of clients’ commercial objectives with deep IP experience, enabling her to identify key IP-related risks and deliver practical, business-oriented solutions.

Grace also has substantial IP litigation experience and has successfully represented several well-known brands in trademark infringement and imitation lawsuits.

Representative Matters

  • Secured judicial recognition of the “Dettol” trademarks as well-known trademarks for Reckitt Benckiser in a case listed among Shanghai’s Top 10 Guiding IP Cases of the Year

  • Secured nearly CNY 10 million in damages for L'OCCITANE in a trademark infringement and trade dress imitation dispute

  • Successfully represented Webzen in a dispute arising from a video game license agreement

  • Advised a leading private equity firm on a master franchise arrangement with a U.S. restaurant brand

  • Advised Telink Semiconductor on IP collaborations relating to semiconductor chip design, manufacturing, and supply chain management

  • Represented China New City (0132.HK) in an IP licensing and joint venture project with Maggie & Rose, a famous British family club

  • Represented a client in entering into an exclusive development and operation arrangement with a world-renowned e-sport brand for its derivative business

  • Advised a well-known U.S. massager brand on full-range trademark service in China, including trademark  portfolio planning, IP compliance and enforcement

  • Advised a famous U.S. fast-food franchise brand on its daily operation, including IP compliance and IP-related collaborations
