Will WANG

Mr. Wang has dual backgrounds as judge and lawyer, and has accumulated more than ten years' experience in dispute resolution. After joining Zhong Lun, Mr. Wang has represented many multinational corporations, large scale domestic enterprises, financial institutions and public institutions to handle lawsuits and arbitrations in China. Mr. Wang’s clients mainly include the National Development Bank, Bank of China, Hongkong Wing Lung Bank, Shanghai Railway Bureau, Zhangjiang Group, Fosun Group, Volvo, Wabtec, Ronbay Technology, Tecent, Sogou, Qihoo 360, Abbott, Qualcomm, Budweiser, Huntsman, Solarcity, IKang Healthcare, Golden Jaguar, Israel Teva Pharmaceutical, Jinxing dance theatre, etc.
Mr. Wang is known for his expertise in litigation and arbitration. He has represented a large number of civil and commercial litigation and arbitration cases in courts at all levels in different areas (including the Supreme People's Court) and at several arbitration institutions. He is especially good at handling significant and difficult cases with complex background facts and intertwined legal relationships. Many cases he has represented have been selected as typical cases by courts at all levels.   • Represented a Fortune 500 company to file a lawsuit for breach of contract involving more than 200 million yuan in respect of the equity transfer dispute against its Chinese joint venture partner. With extremely complex facts and significant social impact, firmly promoted the case according to established strategy, and achieved favorable judgment results and positive social effects

  • Represented a well-known railway enterprise in China to respond to a lawsuit for breach of contract raised by a land tenant with the subject matter of 500 million yuan, and eventually supported by the court

  • Represented a national policy bank to file a debt collection lawsuit of nearly 200 million yuan, successfully preserved the defendant's property in full, and used various ways for the client to be compensated in full in advance under the circumstance that the defendant has entered bankruptcy proceedings

  • Represented a bank in Hong Kong to file a debt collection lawsuit of more than 400 million yuan, and successfully preserved almost all the defendant's assets in the first round. All the claims of the case were supported by the courts of first and second instance

  • Represented a well-known new energy company to deal with the lawsuit for breach of contract filed by the counterparty during its acquisition of a photovoltaic power station. Under the unfavorable circumstance of losing the first instance, intervened at the second instance and finally obtained a favorable judgment, reducing the client's losses by nearly 70%

  • Represented a well-known investment company to file a lawsuit for breach of contract against the actual controller of a listed company. The case involved complex legal issues such as the applicable period of the Minutes of the National Court Work Conference for Civil and Commercial Trials, the validity of minimum profit guarantee made by the actual controller of listed company, and finally achieved favorable results and successfully realized the client's purpose

  • Represented a European luxury glasses enterprise to file a series of lawsuits on contract disputes against more than 20 distributors, and the claims were almost fully supported by the courts of first and second instance

  • Represented an internationally recognized software company to respond to an arbitration on software license agreement raised by a large domestic beverage enterprise, and achieved a satisfactory settlement agreement for the client even with unfavorable evidence in the case.

  • Represented a well-known chip manufacturer in China to file a lawsuit to terminate the contract in respect of the dispute with its technology development collaborator, which was supported by the court

  • Represented an internationally renowned tennis player to respond to the lawsuit for breach of contract initiated by the brokerage company, successfully demanded retrial of the case under the unfavorable situation of losing the first instance, and eventually obtained a favorable result

  • Represented a well-known drug R&D and production enterprise to respond to a lawsuit for infringement of technical secrets raised by a doctor. The case involved the R&D process and technology ownership of a domestic radionuclide drug.   • Represented a former China general agent of a fashion brand to deal with trademark infringement and unfair competition lawsuits raised by competitors in Chongqing, Shenzhen and Hangzhou with a total subject matter of more than 150 million yuan, and finally the court rejected almost all of the opposite parties' claims

  • Represented a well-known domestic nano waterproof technology company to deal with multiple patent infringement disputes initiated by a multinational enterprise, and on the basis of comprehensive research on the client's technology and prior arts, invalidated some of the patents involved entirely, and obtained the court's support for the non-infringement defense for the rest of the patents, and won the case in whole

  • Represented a leading domestic lithium battery cathode material enterprise to deal with several patent infringement disputes initiated by European competitors with a total amount of hundreds of millions of yuan. Through the research on claims and examples of the patents, determined several experimental schemes, and through relevant experimental data, successfully proved that the client's products did not constitute patent infringement

  • Represented a leading internet map supplier in China to respond to a copyright infringement and unfair competition disputes of internet maps of hundreds of millions of yuan raised by a surveying and mapping company in Beijing, and successfully achieved the client's expected purpose

  • Represented a European ultrasonic welding equipment manufacture to sue several domestic accessory manufacturers for patent infringement, participated in the whole process of evidence collection, including notarization and evidence collection at the site of the infringer, and stopped the infringement and obtained compensation for the client

  • Represented a well-known mobile game company in China to deal with an appeal case of trademark infringement and unfair competition filed by a leading internet literature platform in China, intervened in the second instance and changed the judgment successfully to achieve the client's purpose under an unfavorable circumstance of losing the first instance

  • Represented a well-known daily necessities company in Europe and a well-known packaged drinking water company in China to file trademark infringement and unfair competition lawsuits for a series of trademark infringements in China. While winning the case, the client's relevant trademarks were also recognized as well-known trademarks by the judicial authorities

  • Represented a well-known game company in China to deal with two copyright infringement disputes with a total subject matter of more than 40 million raised by a leading culture company in China. Through the handling and defense of evidence, ultimately reduced the losses of the client beyond expectation and achieved the client's purpose

The case of trademark infringement disputes and unfair competition disputes of Anglo Franchise Limited. v. Baoai Trading (Qingdao) Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Quanran Garments Co., Ltd. represented by Wang Guangwei and Ruan Siyu were selected as top 10 typical intellectual property cases in Shenzhen and innovative case of judicial protection in 2020;

The case of trademark infringement of "滴露" and "Dettol" represented by Wang Guangwei and Shu Hai were successfully selected as the top 10 typical cases of intellectual property in Shanghai in 2018.
