In addition, Mr Yan is able to adhere to the principle of giving equal weight to practice and theory, pay attention to cutting-edge academic topics, and actively express his opinions on new problems and thoughts discovered during his practice by putting them into writing. The articles he wrote won the "second Prize" in the first National Forum on the Prosecution of Duty-related Crimes. Some of his articles have been successively published in "Special Research on the Prosecution of Duty-related Crimes and Case Handling Guidelines", "Sentencing Research", "Proceedings of the 2024 National Annual Conference of the Chinese Society of Criminal Law", "Proceedings of the Amendment of the Criminal Procedure Law and New Developments in Criminal Defense (Volume II)", etc. What is even more valuable is that The legislative amendment proposal he put forward in 2024 regarding compulsory measures in criminal proceedings was adopted by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and he was awarded an honorary certificate.
