At the Women in Business Law Asia Awards 2021 announced by the Euromoney Legal Media Group on September 15, 2021, Jihong Wang, a partner of Zhong Lun Law Firm, was recognized as the "Environment Lawyer of the Year".
Ms. Wang is an expert lawyer in the ecological environment area and serves as the vice-chair of the Environment and Energy Committee of China National Committee of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and legal counsel for the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the PRC and the China Environmental Protection Foundation. Having focused on ecological environment practice for nearly 20 years, Ms. Wang has gained extensive experience and won numerous plaudits from clients in ecological environment legislation, administrative law enforcement, environmental crisis response and compliance, as well as ecological governance, environmental restoration and compensation.
Ms. Wang participated in the drafting and revision of dozens of China’s environment-related laws, regulations and policies, including the Environmental Protection Law, the Marine Environmental Protection Law, the Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law, the Atmospheric Pollution Prevention and Control Law, the Law on Prevention and Control of Environment Pollution Caused by Solid Wastes, the Soil Pollution Prevention and Control Law, the Measures for Administration of Carbon Emissions Trading and the Rules for Administration of Accounts on the National Carbon Emissions Trading Market. She also took part in many research and discussions of major and difficult environmental issues as invited by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Ministry of Justice and has vigorously helped publicize China's legislation, practice, changes and efforts in the field of ecological environment and climate change through the platform of ICC.
