Xiangwen Liu, a partner from Zhong Lun, made it to the list of 2022 ALB China Top 15 Litigators announced by Asian Legal Business (ALB) on February 21, 2022 .
Xiangwen Liu mainly focuses on litigation and arbitration, compliance and government regulation. He has handled more than 1,000 domestic and overseas disputes, including many major commercial ones, such as the "Danone Wahaha Dispute", "Baowan Dispute" and "China Consumers Association's First Public Interest Litigation". He has represented clients before courts in dozens of jurisdictions, including China, the United States, Germany, Canada, Singapore, the British Virgin Islands and Congo (Brazzaville), as well as in a host of arbitral institutions at home and abroad.
Mr. Liu also has extensive experience in compliance and government regulation. He has provided legal services for over 30 Chinese central enterprises, large state-owned enterprises, well-known private businesses and multinational corporations, including Sinochem Group, SDIC, National Power Investment Group, Minmetals Group, Aviation Industry Corporation of China, Three Gorges Group, China Inspection Group and Mengniu Group. He has advised scores of Chinese companies on their response to compliance investigations and sanctions by the U.S. government or multilateral financial institutions, such as the World Bank, and helped more than 20 multinational companies in dealing with compliance investigations in China.
For his outstanding performance in domestic and overseas dispute resolution and compliance, Mr. Liu has been recommended and recognized by multiple international legal rating agencies, such as Benchmark Litigation, Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500 and asialaw Profiles. He has also been selected into China’s Ministry of Justice's talent pool for lawyers specialized in foreign-related matters and the All-China Lawyers Association's "Belt and Road" leading talent pool for cross-border lawyers. Mr. Liu currently serves as legal counsel for the International Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Justice.
