Zhong Lun partners Haiyan Duan, Huawei Sun and Carol Zhu were honored on the "Benchmark Asia-Pacific’s Top 100 Women in Litigation 2022" list, which was released by Benchmark Litigation on June 23, 2022.
Haiyan Duan
With more than 20 years of rich experience in labor dispute resolution under her belt, Ms. Haiyan Duan has handled many complex high-profile labor disputes involving a large number of stakeholders, contributing to maintaining social stability and harmony. She has a comprehensive and profound understanding of China's labor law legislation, enforcement and practical application, which equips her with uncanny abilities to approach issues from the perspective of judges and counterparties and devise strategies that are tailored to clients’ needs. A non-compete dispute involving a well-known internet enterprise that Ms. Duan advised on was selected as a typical case by Beijing courts of two levels. Clients have praised Ms. Duan for her "excellent performance in court, quick feedback, quick refutation, detail-focused style" and "strong legal analysis in writing and in court.".
Huawei Sun
Ms. Huawei Sun focuses on solving foreign-related commercial and international investment treaty disputes and has accumulated extensive experience in investment arbitration. She has argued many complex commercial arbitration cases before international commercial arbitration institutions and under ad hoc arbitration rules, among which, she won the first international investment arbitration case on behalf of the Chinese government. Ms. Sun had practiced in an international law firm for years before joining Zhong Lun and is conversant with the systems and rules of evidence of common law and continental law. She is currently serving as the sole representative from the Chinese mainland on the Appointments Committee of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and vice chair of the Asia Pacific Regional Forum of the International Bar Association (IBA).
Carol Zhu
Ms. Carol Zhu specializes in legal issues arising from the full-spectrum of labor and employment. She has gained considerable experience after over a decade at the helm of human resources management in multinational companies in China and across other parts of the Asia Pacific region. Ms. Zhu is a member of All China Bar Association, member of the Employment and Industrial Relations Law Committee of International Bar Association, and officer of IBA Diversity and Equality Law Committee. Through cooperation with L&E Global, a worldwide alliance for cross-border labor and employment law, Ms. Zhu provides local labor law services to Chinese clients in nearly 30 countries and regions around the world. She has received top rankings of labor and employment from a number of rating agencies for many consecutive years.
