Zhong Lun Law Firm partners Cheng Jun and Dai Guanchun delivered a speech on legal issues surrounding overseas investment by Chinese enterprises at a “going global" legal seminar in Beijing on September 18, 2009.
The seminar, jointly hosted by Zhong Lun, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Spain-based law firm Cuatrecasas, Gon?alves Pereira, was aimed at helping Chinese enterprises identify legal risks and provide solutions to manage such risks in their exploration of overseas markets.
Drawing on his extensive experience in overseas investment, Mr. Cheng elaborated on legal barriers Chinese enterprises have encountered and will possibly encounter in future investments and provided ways to circumvent those risks and barriers. Mr. Dai, also experienced in overseas investment, shared his insights on the domestic approval procedures for Chinese enterprises in their investment abroad.
At the seminar, the Spanish law firm Cuatrecasas, Gon?alves Pereira introduced the ETVE (Entidad de Tenencia de Valores Extranjeros), a very efficient Spanish holding company structure to repatriate dividends outside the European Union.
