Zhong Lun Law Firm and Duxes Business Consulting Inc. jointly kicked off the Fourth China Antitrust Seminar in Beijing on September 25 2009. The seminar, which ran till September 26, mainly addressed the key and thorny issues regarding China’s anti-monopoly laws, including risk evaluation of monopolistic agreements, definition of relevant market, determination of price monopoly, filing procedures of business concentration and civil procedures in connection with anti-monopoly law.
Zhong Lun partners John Jiang, Michael (Zhengping) Gu and Xue Yi, who have extensive experience in anti-monopoly/competition law, delivered key-note speeches on Management of Legal Risks Associated with Monopolistic Agreements. John Jiang elaborated on the legislation and assignment of authorities between enforcement agencies since the entry into force of China’s Anti-monopoly Law; Michael (Zhengping) Gu and Xue Yi focused, respectively, on analyses of vertical and horizontal monopolistic agreements and legal risk assessment and practical prevention measures.
More than 60 participants, mainly included general managers, director generals and general counsel from Global 500 companies and listed companies, and partners and lawyers from domestic and international law firms attended the two-day event. Participants also included officials from three anti-monopoly agencies, namely, the Ministry of Commerce, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce and the State Development and Reform Commission, and judges from the Intellectual Property Tribunal of the Supreme People’s Court.
