Partners Carl Cheng, Robert Lewis and Zhou Yun Deliver Speeches at 24th Annual US General Counsel Conference
The 24th Annual US General Counsel Conference was organized by Corporate Counsel magazine owned by ALM group, the largest legal media of the United States on 12 and 13 of June 2012 in New York City, the United States. Three partners of Zhong Lun Law Firm, Mr. Carl Cheng, Mr. Robert Lewis and Mr. Zhou Yun participated upon invitation and delivered speeches respectively regarding the hot topics of Chinese law and business: IP, Cloud Computing and M&A on the afternoon of June 12.
The three partners provided an overview of the regulatory framework in China for intellectual property protection, e-commerce and key issues to be considered in M&A activities. Their presentations covered the issues concerning value-added telecom services (VATS) license requirements for e-business, variable interest entity (VIE) structure and alternatives, strategic and operational considerations for protecting intellectual property, tax considerations for M&A activities, circular 698’s impact on tax efficient investment structures, as well as the merger control and security review regime in China.
The US General Counsel Conference is a premium legal event bringing together the most elite general counsels of the United States. It also inspires an understanding of innovative practices and processes in place to manage some of the most difficult corporate and legal issues of today. In this 24th Annual Conference, Zhong Lun had the honor to become the first Chinese law firm to be invited and participate in the conference.
