Partner Sun Wei Attended the Conference on “Overseas Legal Risks Prevention by Chinese Enterprises in Poland” and Delivered a Keynote Speech
On 21 March 2018, the conference on “Overseas Legal Risks Prevention by Chinese Enterprises in Poland," organized by CIETAC and CCPIT’s representative office in Poland, was held in Warsaw. Representatives from Chinese enterprises operating in Poland, such as China Development Bank, China-CEE Fund, Huawei’s subsidiary in Poland, Air China Sales Department in Warsaw, and the Poland branches or representative offices of Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Power China, China Gezhouba Group, and Pinggao Group, attended the conference.
Mr. Sun Wei, partner at Zhong Lun Law Firm and a CIETAC arbitrator, delivered a keynote speech titled “Overseas Operational Risks to Chinese Engineering Contractors" during the conference. In this speech, Mr. Sun, reflecting on the difficulties Chinese enterprises experienced in undertaking overseas construction projects, first comprehensively summarized nineteen typical operational risks. Then he focused on five of them, i.e. feasibility of the project, transportation risk, parent company guarantee, letters of guarantee, and statute of limitations for raising claims, and proposed effective measures to prevent such risks.
