Partner Sun Wei Attended the Conference on “Belt and Road Initiative and Sino-Poland Arbitral Practice” and Delivered a Keynote Speech
On 21 March 2018, CIETAC and Lewiatan Arbitration Court jointly organized the conference on “Belt and Road Initiative and Sino-Poland Arbitral Practice" in Warsaw. Tadeusz Chomicki, former Polish ambassador to China, Liu Lijuan, Economic and Commercial Counselor of China’s Embassy in Poland, Beata Gessel, Honorary President of Lewiatan Arbitration Court, Jacek Boczek, Vice President of Polish Chinese Business Board, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Almost 100 representatives from well-known law firms in Poland and neighboring countries, lawyer’s associations, business associations, Chinese and Polish enterprises also participated in this conference.
Mr. Sun Wei, partner at Zhong Lun Law Firm and a CIETAC arbitrator, gave an English speech titled “Overseas Operational Risks to Chinese Engineering Contractors", where he comprehensively summarized typical operational risks to Chinese engineering contractors in undertaking overseas construction projects. In particular, he focused on five key risks including feasibility of the project, land acquisition and removal, price risk, variation risk, and parent company guarantee, and proposed effective measures to prevent such risks.
