During May 30th to May 31st 2019, Mr. Xiangwen LIU and Ms. Changyu FU, partners of Zhong Lun Law Firm, attended the 7th China Anti-Corruption Compliance Forum, made speech and participated in the expert panel discussion respectively.
The Forum was hosted by IBS, strongly and actively supported by National Administration for Market Regulation, National Health Commission, People’s Procuratorate of Haidian District in Beijing, Tesla, VMware, some other governmental agencies and transnational enterprises. Ms. Changyu FU, partner of Zhong Lun office, presided at the panel discussion on the topic of “the Most Significant Corruption-related Challenges Posed to Businesses in China in the Coming Years" on May 30th. Ms. FU together with compliance officers from Philip Morris, Eaton and other transnational corporations, made an in-depth discussion and analysis on the relevant legal issues a compliance officer may face, provided comprehensive answers to the attendees’ questions, and shared her views and experiences on regulatory risks under the background of new laws including AUCL Law, compliance management and risk control in the WE-Media Era, etc., which aroused great response from the attendees.
Mr. Xiangwen LIU, partner of Zhong Lun office, spoke on the topic of “Problems and Suggestions for Chinese Enterprises to Deal with Cross-border Investigation" on May 31st. Based on the current international political situation, economic and trade relations and the Trade War between China and the United States, Mr. LIU comprehensively and thoroughly discussed the types and changes of cross-border investigations faced by Chinese enterprises, the jurisdiction arising from cross-border investigations, the application of laws and the difficulties encountered by enterprises in formulating policies and taking measures to deal with investigations. By analyzing cases such as a commercial bank's response to the US financial regulatory investigation, Mr. LIU made a thorough analysis of the identification and treatment of the defense reasons raised by the overseas courts concerned by Chinese enterprises in invoking Chinese law. The speech received widely positive feedbacks.
