Zhong Lun Advises Legend Holdings Ltd. on Public Bond Issuance in China
On October 31st, 2011, Legend Holdings Ltd. (“Legend Holdings") issued a seven-year-period public bond in an aggregate principal amount of RMB 29 billion in China. Zhong Lun Law Firm acted as legal counsel for the company in the issuance of the bond. Professionals involved included partner Zhang Xuebing as general superintendent, partner Jessica Li, associate Daniel Sean and paralegal Zhao Dian. China Galaxy Securities Company Limited served as the main underwriter for the issuance of the bond.
Legend Holdings was established in 1984 by eleven researchers at the Computing Institute under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with an initial funding of RMB 200,000 (or US$30,000). In 2010, its consolidated revenue was RMB 147 billion (or US$22.6 billion), its total assets were RMB114.9 billion (or US$17.7 billion), and the total number of its employees was 42,000, including 7,000 outside of China. As the flagship of the Legend conglomerate, Legend Holdings has invested into three areas: Core Asset Operation, Asset Management and Incubator Investment.
