Zhong Lun Advises Ansteel on Establishment of JV with Kobe Steel in PRC

Recently, Angang Steel Company Limited (“Ansteel") and Kobe Steel, Ltd. (“Kobe Steel") jointly established a Sino-foreign equity joint venture enterprise “Kobelco Angang Auto Steel Co., Ltd." The JV has a registered capital of RMB 700 million and a total investment of RMB 1.75 billion. Ansteel and Kobe Steel intend to jointly expand the high-end auto sheets market through this JV. Ansteel is a large-scale steelmaking joint stock company, which Anshan Iron and Steel Group Corporation established in 1997 and is listed both in A-share market and H-share market. Kobe Steel was established in 1905 and is the third-largest steel-making conglomerate in Japan, with its business areas covering steel, machinery, engineering, real state, etc.

Zhong Lun represents Ansteel on this project and has rendered a comprehensive range of legal services for Ansteel in the past four years. Zhong Lun’s team is led by William Qiu and team members mainly include Johnson Zhu, Yolanda Huang, Yuanyuan Tao and Haiyan Lai. Mr. Yi Xue, a Beijing-based partner of Zhong Lun, also provided strong support on antitrust-related matters of this project.
