Zhong Lun Assists CHAI with its Establishment of Hainan Representative Office to Promote Global Health Development and Cooperation
Zhong Lun assisted the Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (“CHAI") to register its Hainan representative office in China on January 10, 2022 under the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Administration of Activities of Overseas Nongovernmental Organizations in China. CHAI, an international non-profit organization founded in 2002, operates in over 38 countries and has around 1,800 employees across the globe. CHAI’s Hainan representative office will work closely with its Chinese partners in the following fields: (i) to operate projects in medical health, disease control and prevention, including tuberculosis and other infectious diseases as well as cancer and other chronic non-communicable diseases; (ii) to support medical healthcare businesses to widely participate in global market supply chain by offering strategic recommendations and planning, including information about global market development, market access, supply chain management, product distribution in target countries, etc.; and (iii) to strengthen close communication and innovative collaboration between China and international communities in public health and further explore creative international cooperation in talent exchange, forums and global aid, among others.
This INGO project was led by Henry Ji, a partner of Zhong Lun’s Beijing office, with support from partner Carol Zhu of the firm’s Shanghai office with labor law advice. The Zhong Lun team counsels CHAI on cross-border non-profit organization matters, including application for formation of the representative office, international project cooperation and record-filing, tax law and employment law, etc. The team also includes associates Jiannan Zhu and Zihan Zhang.
