Scott Yu's practice focuses on the cross-border M&A transactions, anti-trust, FDI and other corporate matters.
Scott Yu has extensive experiences in advising clients across various industries and sectors on corporate law and competition law issues as well as daily operation matters. He has over 16 years of experiences of working with leading PRC, Hong Kong and US law firms and serving all types of clients from start-ups to large multinationals, which enabled him to develop legal knowledge and expertise as well as the skills of working for clients with different cultural backgrounds.
Scott YU is always willing to understand client’s legal and commercial needs, and impressed clients of his ability to find a practical solution within the legal framework. He has acted as the lead counsel in a number of mega sized acquisitions and joint venture projects, including certain billion-dollar-value joint venture projects and acquisitions. His clients include those leaders in their respective areas such as Alstom, Areva, Cummins, Schneider Electrics, Warburg Pincus, Microsoft. In recent years, he has advised in a number of large merger, privatization and joint venture projects from anti-trust perspective and helped client to structure the transaction in the most optimized way.

  • Advised Beijing Universal Parks in its joint venture project

  • Advised Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. in its ¥ 2.7 billion joint venture project with Cummins Inc. for diesel engine production, and its ¥ 5.6 billion joint venture project with Daimler AG for truck business

  • Advised Alstom and its Chinese subsidiary Wuhan Boiler Company Limited in the latter’s restructuring plan

  • Advise Volkswagen Auto Finance on its daily operation legal matters

  • Advised Cummins in a number of acquisition transactions and daily operation related legal issues

  • Advised Warburg Pincus in its series of M & A transactions

  • Advised Qualcomm in the regulatory investigation by Chinese National Development and Reform Commission on Qualcomm’s China business

  • Advised JD.com on anti-trust matters in its business cooperation with Tencent

  • Advised Focus Media on anti-trust matters in its privatization from Nasdaq

  • Advised a major US software company with respect to the regulatory investigation on its Chinese operations

  • Merger filing for Cummins, Schneider Electric, Alstom, Minmetal, Baosteel, Dongfeng Motors, in a number of transactions in China

  • Advised a major European commercial vehicle company on PRC anti-trust compliance legal issues in its localization of standard transaction documents
