Zhong Lun partners Frank JIANG, Scott YU and Peng WU, and counsel John JIANG contributed to the “Practice Guides – China M&A" published by Lexology Getting The Deal Through (“Lexology GTDT") in January 2020, authoring the chapter on managing the China competition aspects of global M&A. They shared their experiences and observations on legal and practical issues related to merger control in China in the context of a global M&A transaction, citing statistics and case studies; the areas covered include the newly consolidated antitrust agency, filing thresholds, process and timeline, fast-track procedure, failure-to-notify, competition assessment and remedies. The authors provide practical notes for the effective management of China merger filing for global M&A transactions.
As the largest marketplace and manufacturing base worldwide, China is fertile ground for international M&A activity. With the implementation of the Foreign Investment Law, China's further opening up and reform measures will herald a more level-playing, transparent and predictable business environment, further boosting investment activities. Zhong Lun is one of the first PRC firms to establish an antitrust/competition practice. Over the years, the authors collectively have counseled more than a hundred market leaders in international M&A transactions.
