President of Law Society of Singapore Gives Lecture in Zhong Lun
On 4 March 2013, Mr. Lok Vi Ming SC, President of the Law Society of Singapore and partner of Rodyk & Davidson LLP, together with Prof. Ge Huangbin, Head (China Desk) of International Arbitration Department of Rodyk, also former Head (China) at Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), visited Zhong Lun Beijing Office, and gave a lecture on the topic of “Dollar and Sense of Arbitration in Singapore". The lecture was well attended by Zhong Lun lawyers.
At the beginning of the lecture, Prof. Ge gave a brief introduction about the background of arbitration in Singapore; Mr. Lok then gave the speech regarding features of Singapore arbitration, and various components of costs in SIAC arbitration, etc. The two lecturers also compared arbitration costs incurred in SIAC arbitration and those incurred in arbitrations administered by other arbitration institutions. The two lecturers also answered questions raised by the audience during the lecture.
Before the lecture, Zhong Lun’s Chairman, Mr. Zhang Xuebing, who is currently the Vice President of the All-China Lawyers Association and President of the Beijing Bar Association, met with Mr. Lok. The two had a good discussion on how to strengthen the cooperation between the Beijing Bar Association and the Law Society of Singapore.
