Zhong Lun Partner Audry Li Spoke at China-UK Academic Salon on Commercial Arbitration
On April 7, 2017 Zhong Lun partner Audry Li was invited by British Consulate General in Shanghai as guest speaker to the China-UK Academic Salon on Commercial Arbitration held at East China University of Political Science and Law (“ECUPL"). Present at the salon were representatives of the England and Wales Judiciary, British Consulate General, Supreme People’s Court of China and Shanghai High People’s Court, ECUPL professors as well as around a hundred students from ECUPL.
Prof Ye qing, President of ECUPL, made the opening speech. The Salon was moderated by Mr. Andrew Key, Chief Executive of Judicial Office of England and Wales. As co-panelist, Audry Li joined the Rt. Hon. the Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd, Lord Chief Justice of England & Wales, and Professor Yanping Lin, vice president of ECUPL to discuss topics covering the role of commercial arbitration in dispute resolution, improvement of enforcement of arbitration award and how to prevent disputes. The panel also answered questions from the audience.
As an experienced PRC lawyer and arbitrator, Audry shared her insights and opinions from practitioner’s perspective on how to improve the enforcement of arbitration award and how to avoid and prevent disputes arisen in the first place. The salon provides a rare opportunity to exchange views and opinions from perspectives of lord chief justice of England & Wales, the academic and the practitioner on China-UK commercial arbitration, and is highly praised by the audience.
