Partner Zhang Baisha Speaks at Anti-Trust Asia Pacific Summit
Partner Zhang Baisha was invited to speak at and chair the Anti-Trust Asia Pacific Summit 2014 Hong Kong held by Duxes and Lingnan University on 26th and 27th of July 2014. More than 50 participants attended the Summit, including officers of enforcement agencies, legal counsels of multinational companies, lawyers and scholars from more than a dozen countries/regions across the Asia-Pacific and Europe.
The Summit covered the important aspects of competition law in Asia-Pacific region, particularly in emerging-market countries, including the coordination and conflicts between sector regulations and anti-monopoly law enforcement, the dynamic efficiency and competition law enforcement in high-tech industries, recent development of anti-monopoly law enforcement against the vertical restraints, the balance between intellectual property protection and anti-trust compliance, etc. As the guest speaker, Mr. Zhang presented the case analysis of and insights into the first decision of abuse of market power rendered by Guangdong Administration for Industry and Commerce, commenting on some key issues relating to the case such as the difference between free competition and fair competition, economic dependence and relative market power, the protection of competition or of trading parties or consumers and calculation of sales revenues and penalties, etc.
The Summit has promoted the exchange of enforcement experience and cooperation for antitrust law enforcement among Asia-Pacific countries.
